Susan is an experienced Global Supply Chain and Strategic Sourcing executive with over 30 years experience in raw material management, transportation and distribution. Since joining NicheMarkets International as its Vice President of Global Supply Chain, she has assisted consumer good companies identify supply chain and sourcing opportunities, create timely implementation plans that deliver the opportunities, and manage the companies’ divisions through the turn-around and transition.
Prior to joining NicheMarkets International, Susan held a number of leadership positions in Fortune 500 companies. She began her career trading commodities and managing eight country grain elevators for General Mills. Hired by the Kellogg Company to implement a Globalization Strategy for the international packaging and commodity divisions, she reduced costs by $200 million over a four year period. As a Category Manager with the Pillsbury Company (Diageo), she developed and implemented a six-step sourcing model that allowed sourcing managers to more systematically negotiate multi-year contracts, reducing direct and indirect category costs by 8-24%. As Chr. Hansen’s Strategic Sourcing Director, Susan led a turnaround of an underperforming sourcing and supply chain division. By streamlined operations and consolidating the sourcing functions the new division created a positive year for revenue contribution ($10 million sales equivalent) for the first time in five years.
Susan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in theoretical economics and a minor degree in applied economics from the University of Minnesota. She's a contributing author to Supply Chain Executive. She has been an instructor and guest lecturer for the Supply Management (ISM) and the National Association of Procurement Management (NAPM).
